EXHIBITION CO-ORDINATION Open Windows Kirkwall 2016.

detail

Supported by the Kirkwall BID project, I co-ordinated this multi venue exhibition showcasing the work of 30 local artists in windows along the street. Exhibitors included students, recent graduates and long established artists.

The exhibition was based on the Stromness Open Windows event, which had been running successfully since 2010.

Having been involved as an artist in the Open Windows in Stromness over the years, I saw the potential a similar project could have for Kirkwall. One of Kirkwall BID’s aims is to encourage people to spend more time on the street and what better way to do that than with an art exhibition. The businesses were extremely generous in allowing their windows to be dressed with artwork and the artist’s donated 10% of their profit from sales to Orkney based charities.

The exhibition ran 24 hours a day over 2 weeks.
