I have chosen to look back through my archives to give a behind the scenes look at how my work has developed over the years. Mostly unseen works stored away in my studio Plan Chest, these are works that will stay there for my reference. Included will be a few paintings that I see as key pieces to my practice.
I loved Life Drawing at Edinburgh College of Art. Studying naked figures of all shapes was interesting – the attention to detail that was required to capture the delicate contours of a body ensured every line, fold and detail was carefully considered, the skill of the model to pose naked for hours was amazing. My favourite classes were when we were tasked with capturing the movement of the body.
It was relaxing, beautiful and always made me slow down and focus.
