Not really sure where to start today.
A Scone, A Spider and a sign stating ‘EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT‘ seemed fitting.
I’ve made my way on the bus to National Galleries Scotland: Modern One to have a bit of quiet reflection after a busy weekend. Glimro opened on Saturday at The Scottish Gallery and what a day for it, couldn’t have wished for better. The sun was shining and friends and family came along to see the new collection. It was busy, felt like there was a great atmosphere. Most of all it was great to see folk spend time with the artwork, looking, pausing and smiling.
The time I was able to spend with each person was short but – and this sounds very cheesy, but is true – it meant an awful lot that folk took time out of their Saturday to come along and help celebrate this new body of work. It would have been lovely to have gotten more photographs but this one is maybe the best that could have been taken. Friends and Peers from Edinburgh College of Art days. Not sure we have all been together for a long time, maybe a wedding, maybe even back as far as 2003! Scott, Jackie, Grace, Alison, me and Beth. Their smiles and chat like we had never not seen each other was what made the day extra special.

Glimro has been in the making for eighteen months. Walking for hours, painting for hours. Being a mum throughout. Seeing Glimro on the walls of The Scottish Gallery feels like a brilliant conclusion to this time. The exhibition will be open for the month and I hope folk can visit and use it as a time to take a moment of calm to themselves. It feels important that is something that can be done at the moment. Life is so fragile and fast moving.
If you can’t make it person, you can view it online. The Scottish Gallery have carefully gathered together texts, a film and images of my practice for you to get a feel, a publication if you’d like a permanent reminder. The film can be viewed by clicking the image below and everything else can be found on their website.

So many thank you’s to make, but that’s for another day. Today it is to my nearest and dearest for giving me time to do what I do. Keith travelled home yesterday, driving North before the ferry and has arrived home safely to see the kids. I am still in Edinburgh and looking forward to meeting more people at the Coffee Morning on Friday at The Scottish Gallery.
For now, off to enjoy the city some more, but first I’m gonna sit on a bench beside this Henry Moore Sculpture for a bit…
