Laura Drever (born 1981)

Laura Drever was born in Kirkwall, Orkney, graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2003 and shortly afterwards moved home to continue her practice.

For over twenty years Laura has been exploring the changing nature of her native islands. By walking over and through the landscape the artist has come to a deep understanding of the fabric and form of the hills, valleys and seascapes around her.

Laura paints from her studio in Kirkwall, balancing family life and career. She has exhibited regularly throughout the UK, alongside taking an active role in Orkney’s creative community.  She is Chair of Soulisquoy Printmakers, delivers creative workshops and nurtures others through short residencies with locally based arts organisations. 

Her studio is attached to her family home.
