FUNDRAISER FOR UKRAINE AT NORTHLIGHT

****£8,459 raised – read here for more info***

Cary Welling at Northlight Gallery in Stromness is organising and hosting a fundraising Exhibition in aid of Ukraine. It will be held over the weekend – Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th March 2022. Artists have been invited to submit artwork(s) with ALL funds raised going to British Red Cross DEC Ukraine Appeal (DEC is the disasters Emergency Committee, which unites 15 charities).

If you are an artist who would like to donate an artwork, pop it along to the Gallery (before Saturday) or if you would like to purchase any of the artworks included, you can visit the gallery this weekend from 10am – 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

Like everyone, I’ve been watching the news and yesterday there was a guy who has been live steaming live Folk Music from a bunker, I noticed kids drawing with smiles and it struck me that the arts can have such a positive impact on peoples life. If this exhibition can help families, displaced from this awful situation in Ukraine, receive the medicine, food, water and warm clothing they need, then that has to be a good thing.

I have donated Ebb. It was painted after kayaking at the 3rd Barrier in Scapa Flow. It was a clear day and we paddled around and over the wrecks and hugged the coast. It was a beautiful day to be on the sea. It was peaceful, calm.

EBB
Oil on Canvas
60cm x 120cm

Thank you Cary for bringing this together – people like you are why the world is a good place!
