Yesterday we walked the coast of Stromness. I try to do this every time I visit (if time allows). I am not sure I will ever tire of the views – the Hoy Hills make it special. I lived in Stromness for a couple of years in my younger days and my husband’s Granny has a house on the hill, with a view so amazing that it is hard not to be inspired.
There is a walk I would love to do and perhaps I will in the summer – Starting from Stromness to ending at Costa. I have spent time walking it all in sections, however to spend a full day along this coast would be amazing!
Stromness to Yesnaby.
Yesnaby to Skaill.
Skaill to Marwick.
Marwick to Birsay.
Birsay to Costa
So much to see – Hoy Hills, Warbeth, Billia Croo, The Black Craig, amazing cliffs, Stacks, sparkling sea, Brochs, Cairns, rock formations, Hoy Sound, Seapinks, Skara Brae, Hole o’ Row, waves good enough to surf, Fishermans Huts, Kitchener Memorial, sandy beaches, Marwick Bay, Puffins (at the right time of year-I heard there has been a few spotted already), Rockpools, Groatie Buckies, Whale Bone, War Huts, North Isles, Lighthouses.
Views that are all together wonderful – I could go on all day!
I remember these WALKS differently each time, walking in different directions and throughout the year to change the view as I go. These WALKS slow me down, help me breathe deeper.
NESS 1, NESS 6 & NESS 8 are a few of the artworks still available. Please view in WALKS GALLERY if you are interested.
